Volume 02: Zin Helena Song

Volume 02: Zin Helena Song

Zin Helena Song, originally from and educated in Seoul, South Korea, creates striking mixed media origami and 3-dimensional works of art. Song has been creating vivid works of art by hand since the 1980s, and since then has moved to New York where she now lives and works. In reviewing Song’s canon of work, one can understand how she has been influenced by the cities she’s called home, like Seoul and New York, as her sculptures demonstrate a visual compositional complexity and mastery that appears to have been informed by personal notions of order and multiplicity of urban society.

Song uses bold and pastel colors to express her life experience, she also creates several origami pieces, handmade from wood and canvas. At Koshu, we create origami in leather and respect an artist who can mold a medium like wood, which is typically used to create furniture, into an energetic, shape shifting work of art. From our team at Koshu - cheers to you Zin Helena Song.
